"In the spring of 1985, seven ambitious musicians formed
the band which was known as AVALANCHE. Through bad luck and hard
knocks, the band dispersed after a climactic debut and farewell
performance. Now the stage was set for something even bigger, better,
and more profound. In the summer of 1985, a few of the survivors from
the AVALANCHE holocaust, a member from another infamous group, and a
curious spectator consolidated to form the band which we call
REDLINE."
That was a quote from the insert of our album
"Radioactivities". I was inspired to put together this little page of
history by my friend and former band mate
Dave
Papineau. Since he's already sufficiently covered "Blue Age" on
his site, I figured I'd go back a bit further and reminisce. Well,
that's not entirely true. Here are a couple of pics I'm not even sure
Dave has.
For more of an in depth look at "Blue Age" and other cool music
stuff, I defer to the master. Yes, I speak of
"The
Gooberspazz".
This is us in our heyday. Before a show at the Old Armory.
The only "non-original" member is
Jason and I believe he was
sitting in with us that night. You can do further research on Jason
at The Home of the Gooberspazz. Click on "Music" and then "Blue Age".
I'll expect a full report, double spaced on a Royal Electric model
#3483438 by Monday.
O.K. Now this is more like it. Here we are. Closer to the
top of our form. Here is a computer tip: You can actually calibrate
your monitor with Myles' Zubas! I, of course, am just a floating
head.
We were actually doing a joint show with Blue Age. This
was right before I left for Seattle.
Hey, kids, it's Jay
Larvick! He stepped up and got the job
done when we needed him."Good drummer. Great look!" Click his face
and see what happens!
No discussion of Redline would be complete without
mentioning J Wiedmer.(Below, look down, down here)
J was Redline's first male
lead singer. Yes, that's how he spelled his name. No period. EVER!
(Not so fast, trivia buffs! If you screamed out "BUT KELLY KAISER WAS
REDLINE'S FIRST MALE SINGER!", you are wrong and also a whiner. Kelly
sang in AVALANCHE, not Redline, which makes him a pioneer of sorts.
And he can't drive 55!) Back to J. He
tried to "countrify" us (If not in music, at least in attitude) and
we tried to "rockify" him. I think it worked both ways to some
degree. (Thanks to the
"OtherJay for the whereabouts on
J. Confused yet?)
There are a few more very talented musicians associated
with Redline. Kelly Kaiser
(as mentioned above), Brad Ashton, and Stacey Knodle to name a few.
Since this site is always in a state of flux, I'll be adding more
info as it comes in.
